Informal Care Informal care is usually carried out by people who are not paid to provide it such as friends, relatives or neighbours A lot of people who need support to live at home and have informal care to prevent staying in hospital or going into a care home. Support should be provided to informal carers in case they get ill or can no longer carry on the informal care they give. Informal carers provide information to professionals to help plan out future support or new care plans through regular meetings with Care Managers.
