Corporate Crime: case studies Enron At one point in time, the Houston, Texas-based energy company was the seventh largest company in the United States. The method by which Enron achieved that distinction however, was less than honest. By using shell corporations to fabricate profits and deceptive accounting practices Enron kept millions of dollars worth of debt hidden from investors and the market as a whole.
