What was the Louisiana Purchase? The U.S. doubled its size by buying a huge amount of land west of the Mississippi to the Rocky Mountains

Why was James Long upset about the Adams-Onis Treaty line Why was James Long upset about the Adams-Onis Treaty line? And what did he do about it? He didn’t want the U.S. to lose Texas, so when they gave it up in the 1819 treaty, he became a filibuster and tried to start a rebellion against the Spanish, so Texas could become a free, independent territory.
