Aspirations 2022 Strategic Planning Process focus group meetings

Why am I here tonight to talk to you? Outside consultant for NWSRA Not connected to the agency Retired 32 year veteran of the parks and recreation field Former Board member of a special recreation association

Why is NWSRA going through a strategic planning process? To look at the past and evaluate where they have been To assess where they are To plan for the future Doing it to improve services to the residents of their member districts

Strategic Planning Process Step 1: SWOT Analysis and Survey Step 2: Development of Mission, Vision, Core Values and Pillars Step 3: Regional Focus Groups and Development of Focuses Step 4: Staff Planning Retreat and Development of Long Range Goals Step 5: Development of Short Term Goals Pre-Planning: Culture Check-In

What strategic planning cannot do… Cannot change federal and state mandates and laws (many un-funded) Minimum wage Insurance and Retirement benefit requirements Cannot increase budgets, tax levies or change the cost of providing the services Special Recreation levy Cost of doing business is increasing (insurance, wages, cost of facilities and equipment)

Mission Statement We exist to provide outstanding opportunities through recreation for children and adults with disabilities
