Lesson Frame Today we will review the terms for figurative language. I will write a summary for my Cornell Notes

Cornell Notes As we view the videos, you will be taking Cornell Notes. Our topic today is: Figurative Language.

Essential Question What effect does figurative language have on a piece of literature?

The Notes Section In the notes section, you will take down notes. In your notes, I would like to see the term, the definition and an example for the term. Do not write anything in the left hand column yet. Do not write the summary yet.

Steps for Cornell Notes Compare your notes with your neighbor’s. If you are missing something they have, add it to your notes. Take a highlighter and circle or highlight key terms or ideas. In the summary section at the bottom, summarize the main points of the notes in two sentences. In the left hand margin, write down questions about the notes.
