4th Grade Music Standards Power Standards: Sings independently and/or in groups while using appropriate posture, breath support, diction, and pitch Performs simple rhythms and melodies accurately Reads standard notation and symbols Additional experiences & skills taught: Sings round, ostinati, and or partner songs independently Improvises using question and answer form Creates a melodic improvisation independently Arranges and performs a simple accompaniment Listens to and identifies different musical genres Responds to a performance using music vocabulary Applies criteria using music vocabulary when evaluating performances Explains how instruments create sound (science connection) Describes and performs music from another culture Demonstrates appropriate audience behavior for a music performance
