„Libraries for innovation 2“ 13.248 people participate in training: ICT training – 7.709 Professional/business – 3.359 Creative industries – 1.076 Personal development – 477 Other (spec. children and similar) – 627 22.143 participated in labs Personal development – 6.599 Creative industries – 6.542 IT – 6.058 Professional/business – 356 Other – 2.588 Libraries in total organized 1.190 events, around 40.000 people participated in these events.
„Libraries for innovation 2“ 91 new/upgraded services were developed, for example: Psychological support (psychologist in the library, tailored games to help children for children with social/psychological issues); Non-formal training (various clubs, online training services, Interactive language training); Mobile labs/ IT centers (Broadcasts to village libraries, mobile 3d printer/tab/computer labs etc.); Creative and IT development labs (Photo/ video/ audio creative labs, comics lab, 3d modeling/printing labs) 215 products developed (methodologies, websites, applications, games, videos etc.) Increased volunteer activities and increased partner events in libraries.
Strategic directions of the library development 2016–2022 The directions are aimed to promote structural dialogue at the level of the library system and state administration and to ensure interactivity and compatability of the activities based on the values of smart society, smart economy and smart management. The strategic goal of the directions is to pursue effective use of the potential of libraries, as effective information infrastructure, by ensuring development of lifelong learning for society members, social and economic welfare and increase of the impact on the national and regional development

2016 − the Year of Libraries Resolution No. XII-1461 of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania of 16 December 2014 Purpose was to improve attractiveness of the image of libraries to society and social partners, to highlight advantages of the library network, to reveal the potential of the development of multimedia services provided by libraries and their benefits for society.
