Welcome! Welcome to Language Arts with Ms. Barker Take a seat. I know you’re full of questions and we’ll answer them. For right now, just

Attendance

Attention Signal There will be times that you’re allowed to talk amongst yourselves and I need the whole class’ attention again. When I raise my hand and say, “Show me that you see me” I expect you to raise your hand and become silent. Let’s practice.

Housekeeping Supplies (What do I do with all this stuff?)

Supplies *Should you not have something, turn it in the next time class meets. Take Out the following: Hand-sanitizer/sanitizing wipes Tissues Post-it notes (unwrapped) Composition notebooks

Supplies Required (Bring Daily) Optional Planner College-rule lined paper Pens/pencils Highlighters Markers Index cards Silent Sustained Reading Book Thumb drive Binder (with a section for this class)

Supplies Cont.’d These supplies will remain in class: Composition notebooks (which will be referred to as comp. books.) Comp. books are stored on the back shelf and are color coded by class. Post-its (they’re added to a communal pool.) We use them for many purposes. Hand sanitizer Tissues

Material Distribution If you have your comp. book today, please raise your hand. If you need a sharpie to write your name, my name (Ms. Barker) and class period, please raise your hand. Place comp. books on back shelf. When your desk label color is called, put your materials in the box of similar items.

Housekeeping Seats (vision, height, naturally warm, etc.)
