MIGHTY GOD

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen! – Isaiah 9:6-7 (NLT)

1. MIGHTY IN INCARNATION

1. MIGHTY IN INCARNATION “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.” – Luke 1:35 (NLT)

1. MIGHTY IN INCARNATION So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. – John 1:14 (NLT)

2. MIGHTY IN TRANSFORMATION

2. MIGHTY IN TRANSFORMATION Some people brought to him a paralyzed man on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Be encouraged, my child! Your sins are forgiven.” – Matthew 9:2 (NLT)

2. MIGHTY IN TRANSFORMATION In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! – Luke 15:7 (NLT)

2. MIGHTY IN TRANSFORMATION "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.  Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." – Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

3. MIGHTY IN CRUCIFIXION

3. MIGHTY IN CRUCIFIXION For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,  for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus. – Romans 3:25-26 (NLT)

3. MIGHTY IN CRUCIFIXION “…a sword will pierce your very soul.” – Luke 2:35b (NLT)

4. MIGHTY IN RESURRECTION

4. MIGHTY IN RESURRECTION He was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord. – Romans 1:4 (NLT)
