Presentation transcript:

Supplementary Figure 1. Deficits in cognitive function persist up to 11 wks post-injury in moderate-level CCI TBI mice. Sham-injured and CCI TBI mice performed the Morris water maze test at 4 wks post-injury and again at 11 wks post-injury to assess long-term deficits in cognitive function. The hidden submerged platform was placed in the SW quadrant for the 4 wk post-injury study and in the NE quadrant in the 11 wk post-injury study. Latency to find the platform was recorded by BIANYmaze video-tracking software over a series of 16 training trials (4 trials per day over 4 consecutive days). Repeated measures one-way ANOVA showed a statistically significant interaction between groups and time after injury at 4 wks post-injury (F(3,72)=6.29, p=0.007), but not at 11 wks post-injury (F(3, 54)=2.75, p=0.0514). Post-hoc analysis revealed a significant difference between sham-injured and CCI TBI groups on days 3 and 4 in the 4 wk post-injury study (p<0.001), and on day 4 in the 11 wk post-injury study (p<0.01). 4 wk study: n = 10 sham-injured, n = 18 CCI TBI; 11 wk study: n = 8 sham-injured, n = 12 CCI TBI.
