Leadership structure of group/military LRA has a hierarchal structure Joseph Kony is the supreme leader. Military leadership is set up as a basic chain of command; and they qualify as a modern African guerrilla. -Military is well established and stable.

Levels of Leadership At the top of the chain is Kony, as the supreme commander. Leading down from Kony are his immediate subordinates and major generals. From there it goes down to the brigadier generals, and then below them is 200-300 combatants.

Abducting and brainwashing within the leadership Abduction is a common tactic of the LRA to build their military numbers. Those abducted are often children. Leaders often brainwash their child soldiers into feeling loyalty for the group. Stripping soldiers of anything which reminds them of their culture - They will promise abductees material gains, give false information, and in return the leaders receive long term loyalty.

Dependence on Kony: A weakness To the LRA, Josephy Kony is like a god. The fact that he claims to get messages from higher spiritual beings creates instability in the organization. Named a threat by the UNSC
