<month year> doc.: IEEE 802.15-<doc#> Summary This document describes the proposed resolution on the comments related to preamble in 4-(G)FSK modulation. The following comments are addressed; CID#821 and #1220. Page 2 <author>, <company>

Comment resolution CID#821 CID#1220 “The preamble for 4GFSK is not explicitly specified.” CID#1220 “SHR shall never be sent in 4(G)FSK modulation, and it should be avoided for PHR as well.” Proposed resolution (for both comments) Accept in principle: “SHR (preamble and SFD) shall be modulated in 2 level FSK or GFSK. Only PHR and PSDU shall be modulated in 4 level FSK or GFSK.” Rationale Preamble shall be modulated in 2 level, in order for receiver to work properly (AFC and signal detection). SFD shall be modulated in 2 level as well, as it is designed to work in 2 level modulation and it also provides more robustness. PHR shall be modulated in 4 level, as modulation order is not specified in PHR and interoperability issue would be solved at MAC and higher layer.

Proposed changes to the draft 6.12a.1.2 Bit-to-symbol mapping Insert the following paragraph and figure “In case 4-level FSK/GFSK is used, only the PHR and PSDU shall be encoded in four frequency deviation levels. SHR shall be encoded in the lowest (-3*Df) and the highest (+3*Df) frequency deviations. The symbol rate shall be the same for the entire PPDU. PPDU encoding for 4 FSK/GFSK is shown in Figure A.” Figure A – PPDU encoding for 4FSK/GFSK
