Objectives Reflect on the relationships we build with our patients diagnosed with ADHD and their caregivers Consider opportunities to improve upon aforementioned relationships Value the parent perspective (We are not discussing formal parent partners but if you have a specific question please contact UPIQ) Please add up to three objectives for this learning session

To know the road ahead, ask those coming back - Chinese Proverb Parent Perspective “Families are big, small, extended, nuclear, and multi-generational with one parent, two parents, and grandparents. We live under one roof or many. A family can be as temporary as a few weeks or as permanent as forever.  We become part of a family by birth, adoption, and marriage or from a desire of mutual support.  A family is culture unto itself, with different values and unique ways of realizing its dreams together, our families become the sources of our rich cultural heritage and spiritual diversity…our families create neighborhoods, communities, states, and a nation”. - Polly Arango, Family Voices To know the road ahead, ask those coming back - Chinese Proverb

Care Map There are many intense feelings families of children with special needs experience. This intense emotional response is often misunderstood by those around the family.

INVOLVEMENT TO ENGAGEMENT Patients and their families are essential allies and key stakeholders in efforts to improve care. In fact, no one has more invested than they do in maintaining what is good about the delivery and cost of care as well as identifying the areas that need improvement. While this is often acknowledged, providers still find themselves doing things to and for the patient, rather than with them. Family-driven means families have a primary decision making role in the care of their own children
