Gina Pola-Money Gina Pola-Money is the Director of Utah Family Voices, Family- to-Family Health Information Center and collaborates with various partners in both the state and nationally to expand family centered care, parent/professional partnerships, medical home and family leadership for children and youth with special healthcare needs. Key activities include incorporating family involvement at all levels of healthcare systems of care, advocating for Utah’s children with special health care needs as well as helping families effectively navigate the complex system of care. Gina is the proud mom of five children, two of which had a genetic rare disorder and have since passed away, and her youngest in on the spectrum living with depression and anxiety. Her children have led to her passion of giving back in this field due to the expertise and experiences acquired throughout the last 29 years.

Care Map There are many intense feelings families of children with special needs experience. This intense emotional response is often misunderstood by those around the family.

INVOLVEMENT TO ENGAGEMENT Patients and their families are essential allies and key stakeholders in efforts to improve care. In fact, no one has more invested than they do in maintaining what is good about the delivery and cost of care as well as identifying the areas that need improvement. While this is often acknowledged, providers still find themselves doing things to and for the patient, rather than with them. Family-driven means families have a primary decision making role in the care of their own children
