ELA 1: Springboard Activity 2.5 Springboard – page 114 (Narrative Writing Prompt) – ½ page to 1 full page on paper! – 30 min. (no talking until all students done – keep yourself busy if done) Write your own scene in which Madame Sofronie cuts Della’s hair or Jim sells his watch to buy her combs. Use description and details to create a setting and situation. Set up the conflict, and introduce any new characters and their perspectives for the reader. Use dialogue to create a vivid picture of characters and to develop tension regarding the conflict. Provide a smooth transition to the next part of the story. Use a consistent point of view (1st, 3rd limited, 3rd omniscient) and verb tense (past or present). When done, get a mark from me and staple on page 100 of your Springboard.
