Today, we are going to learn about Angel Falls, one of the natural wonders in the western hemisphere. We are going to go on a journey to Angel Falls and explore its beauty. Let’s find out more about this beauty. What are you waiting for? Get your things packed and let’s go!

First things first. Let’s learn about the basics of this wonder while we wait for this long airplane flight. Here, it’s a guide book. Let’s read it! Angel Falls is located in Canaima National Park, the second largest national park in Venezuela, South America. It is the highest uninterrupted waterfall in the world. It has the longest drop of 807 meters. The height of this beautiful waterfall is 979 meters. The waterfall is about 150 meters wide at the base. The waterfall tumbles from a cleft near the summit of a table-top mountain Auyan-tepui and falls into what is known as Devil’s Canyon which is 3212 feet below. This beautiful fall is a tributary of the Carrao River. The fall itself, is part of Venezuela’s Orinoco River system. Considered among the world’s most dazzling natural wonders, Angel Falls are a truly unforgettable spectacle.

The History Of Angel Falls Before the mid-1950’s, the falls were an unknown wonder. In 1933, American gold prospector James Crawford (Jimmie) Angel discovered Angel falls accidentally. He flew over the mountain in his Flamingo monoplane while he was in search of a valuable ore bed. In 1937, Jimmie returned to the falls with his wife and some acquaintances aboard his jittery, fixed-wing plane. Although Jimmie landed his plane successfully on Auyan-tepui heart-shaped summit, the plane’s wheels were submerged in mud. Jimmie’s plane remained marooned atop the mountain until 1970. For 12 days, Jimmie and the rest of the group trekked across the rough terrain and needed to ration their limited food supplies until they arrived at a small settlement at Kamarata. Word spread of Jimmie’s discovery and the fall was named after him. The tale piqued international interest in Angel Falls and many scientific investigations were conducted. Canaima National Park was founded in 1962. In 1994, UNESCO named it a World Heritage Site.

Visiting Angel Falls Since we are also going to visit Angel Falls, why don’t we learn more about visiting Angel Falls? Canaima National Park, with its breath-taking variety of tropical wildlife and awe-inspiring vistas, is the gateway to Angel Falls. This World Heritage Site is only reached by air. There are no overland routes into the park. Rutaca and Avior airlines provide flights to and from the airstrip at Canaima Camp. Passengers fly over dense areas of deep jungle, ancient mountains, and many snaking rivers, much of which remains untouched by men. Upon arriving at Canaima Camp, an entry fee of about $4 is requested. Situated roughly 50 kilometers away from Angel Falls, the camp is surrounded by several waterfalls which flow into a beautiful, mineral-stained lagoon edged by sandy beaches. Tourist accommodation is situated a short jeep ride away. A popular way to get to Angel Falls is by boat. Visitors can also fly from Canaima strip to Canaima lagoon. Journey time varies though. On average, it takes about five hours to reach the falls from the camp. Canoes zoom through rapidly flowing sections of river and those on-board are likely to get wet. From the lagoon, visitors then trek through lush, Venezuelan jungle, to various viewing points. If the flow of the falls is gentle enough, tourists are encouraged to swim in pools formed by the plummeting water!

Canaima National Park Canaima National Park is approximately the size of Belgium! There are many things to see and do there. This amazing park is home to more than 550 species of birds, 500 species of orchids, ocelots, pumas, and much more besides. As well as opportunities to plunge into natural jacuzzis and bask on the shores of wide lagoons, visitors there are encouraged to take part in hikes, boat trips, and excursions into indigenous villages. Tours last from an afternoon to a number of nights. Different tours cater to different hiking abilities and interests. A famous “walkway” between the Sapo and Sapito Falls offers visitors the opportunity to walk behind cascading curtains of water. Kevac Canyon and its dramatic waterfall La Cueva, are located Northwest of Kamarata an old Pomon village. A miniature indigenous-run resort comprising a handful of thatched huts is also located and situated in this region. Here, you can discover a small shop, guest accommodation, and a tiny airstrip.

My Opinion What do you think about Angel Falls? Isn’t it an amazing natural wonder? Do you think Angel Falls should be a natural wonder? I strongly believe that Angel Falls should be a natural wonder and be open for visitors of Canaima National Park to see. Many visitors of Canaima National Park usually come to see Angel Falls. Angel Falls is a beauty. Even its history is an interesting story to hear about. Angel Falls should be one of the natural wonders of the Western Hemisphere.

Here are some resources I used to help me create this presentation for you: https://www.beautifulworld.com/south-america/venezuela/angel-falls/ http://www.angelfalls.info/Angel-Falls-Facts.html http://primaryfacts.com/1322/angel-falls-facts-about-the-highest-waterfall-in-the-world/ Phew, that was a long journey. Am I right? Well, we learned a lot about this natural wonder Angel Falls. And I’m sure you had a lot of fun enjoying your visit there. I sure did. I guess that’s the end of the journey guys, Bye!!!!!!!!
