Look at the Template Developing Portfolio Template for FL The template will guide you through responding to each SPA standard (ACTFL/NCATE Teacher Education Program Standards)

Important Terms If you use these questions: Why did you select this artifact? How does it address this standard? What progress have I made toward fulfilling this standard? How will I work to fulfill the standard during my preparation and throughout my teaching career?

Study template guides Read the detail provided with each standard you are addressing. Often the standards documents provide examples of acceptable artifacts and rationale.

Study template guides The template provides the list of evidence accepted for each standard. There may be other items you can use, but you must be able to justify your use of other artifacts in the rationale section.

Creating the portfolio document Make sure you do significant writing and display in the LiveText window. Imagine how terrible it would be for you to see this PowerPoint show with slide after slide of attachments. See the next slide for a demonstration

Creating the portfolio document In this section I have attached the artifacts for this standard Qxlp124.vpn vrtm6Lu.prv ggt3r6t.mmr This is an example of an unacceptable portfolio entry. In your rationale you should discuss the standard by stating the standard in your own words, state what the standard means, what it means for teaching, what you need to do to demonstrate the standard within your own professional performance, and what you can show as evidence of progress toward or commitment to that goal.

Creating the portfolio document In some cases it is acceptable for you to attach your artifact. However, in many cases, it is preferable to copy and paste your information directly in the window—journal entries, lesson plans, learning centers, pictures—you can even shrink some of your certificates to display and then attach the scanned file.

Creating the portfolio document Chulapol Thanomsing is the resource person for LiveText. A great portfolio can serve as an effective artifact for meeting the technology standard. He has created Internet LiveText help for you. He has a schedule that allows him to be available evenings until 9 p.m. on certain days.

Important Hint Type journals and LiveText entries in Microsoft WORD. This will help you pick up on spelling errors and grammar problems. Correct all your mistakes and then copy and paste your writing into other areas that don’t have these tools.

Organize yourself and plan Collect the data Learn to use LiveText Create meaningful divisions in LiveText—don’t make one long continuous document Use simple shortcuts to speed up your work, like copy and paste from original documents into the LiveText window

Organize yourself and plan Learn to scan documents into files Learn to manipulate the size and display of those scanned items If your display is too large or too small, it will detract from your overall presentation Learning these skills will help you when you create activities for students using Internet and other electronic resources.

Let me know if you need help You have many tools available to assist you You can do it—one step at a time END OF PRESENTATION
