Propaganda Posters Russian Revolution

A reminder… Lenin and the Bolsheviks won the Russian Civil War. They believe that they are doing what Marx predicted They helped the workers and peasants overthrow the ruling class Marx believed that socialism would exist after the Revolution In socialism, the workers control the factories themselves Lenin says he’s “helping” the workers learn Communism is “advanced socialism” – in communism, people own everything in common. There is no private ownership.

What is propaganda? Propaganda is images, words, or ideas that are used to convince people to believe a certain way What is this poster telling us?

Soviet propaganda posters Group Roles Connector: How does this poster relate to what we know? Analyzer: What do you think the poster is trying to say? Synthesizer: How can we put everyone’s information together? Presenter: Tell the group your analysis of your poster. Tasks (On your own) Look at the posters and write down what you see. Write down 2 questions about the posters. Discuss your questions with your group. Do your role as connector, analyzer, and synthesizer

Presentation? Each group will have 2 minutes to explain your poster. Each group must answer 2 questions about your poster. Each group is expected to ask at least 2 questions about other posters. Your group grade is based on your presentation, your response to questions, and the questions you ask. Your individual grade is based on the work you did in your role, and on your reflection.

Group reflection You have written down your ideas as connector, analyzer, or synthesizer. What was your role in the group? How did you contribute to your group? What could have gone better? What will you do differently next time? Give your group a grade from 1 = awful to 5 = awesome. Why did you earn that grade?
