Room 3 Newsletter! Upcoming Events Notes from the Teachers: Week of: September 18th – 22nd Mrs. McCormick & Mrs. Klimas Language Arts Focus: Reading Focus Standard(s): I can identify the key events in a narrative text including identifying the beginning, middle, and end. I can identify the parts of a story including characters and setting. I can identify the moral or message in a story. Writing Focus Standard(s): I can write narrative stories to re-tell an event or short series of events, and I can include details with actions, thoughts, and feelings. We will begin a new unit this week all about characters who face challenges in fairy tales, fables, and folktales. Upcoming Events 9/20 – Isabella’s Birthday 9/22 – Flag Salute (Student of the Month) 9/25 – Makeup School Pictures 9/28 – Mrs. Klimas’s Birthday 10/6 – STEAM Rotations 10/16 – Parent/Teacher Conferences 10/17-10/20 Minimum Days 10/21 – Halloween Carnival Notes from the Teachers: October is just around the corner, and it will be a busy month at Richland! We are still looking for a family to head up our booth at the Halloween Carnival! We will also have our first STEAM rotation day on Friday, October 6th and would love volunteers! Phonics High Frequency Words: about, because, here, look, me, play, said, see, she, try Phonics Pattern: Sounds of Long o (o, oa, oe, ow) You can practice your words at www.spellingcity.com! Math Focus: Students will be learning all about the value of numbers from 0-1,000. Students will use base ten blocks to represent the value of two and three digit numbers, and we will continue skip counting by 100s to practice the value of three digit numbers. Students will also be asked to represent three digit numbers using standard form, word form, base ten numerals, and expanded form.
