Presentation Graphics

What is Presentation Graphics? A programs that combine a variety of visual objects to create attractive, visually interesting presentations. Excellent tools to communicate a message and to persuade people. Presentation graphics create interesting and professional presentations. Example: Marketing managers use presentation graphics to present proposed marketing strategies to their superiors. Sales people use these programs to demonstrate products and encourage customers to make purchases. Students use presentation graphics programs to create high-quality class presentations.

What are Presentation Graphics Used for? In academic writing, graphics are designed to complement and boost up the main text in order to increase the reader’s understanding. They are not used to make a paper look more interesting or pleasing. Graphics are commonly used to summaries data and present information that is otherwise difficult to express with words.

What makes a Good Presentation Graphic? A good graphic generally: Draws your attention to the data or information it contains, and not its colors or other artistic features. Gives readers the greatest number of ideas in the shortest amount of time. Presents the greatest amount of data and/or information using the smallest amount of space.

Presentation Graphics Application Features SLIDES Designed for making slides. An electronic presentation consists of a series of slides. Slides are presented in the layout view, which a miniature of each slide is displayed. Other views include the normal view, which is used to create individual slides. Slide show view, used to present the slides. The slides can be presented in a variety of ways called presentation styles. These styles include onscreen presentations, Web presentations, overhead slides, and 35mm slides.

Presentation Graphics Application Features SLIDES Design Gives users an easier way to discover their design options. User can choose among a selection of design templates. Design templates contain color schemes, slide and title masters with custom formatting, and styled fonts, all designed to create a particular look. Most presentation software packages allow you to create your multimedia product using a series of slides. Text, images, video, animations, links and sound can be combined on each slide to create a sophisticated final product.

Presentation Graphics Application Features Animation effects Animation Schemes give users one-click access to professionally designed animations. It is possible to control how and when text, graphics, and other objects appear on the presentation slides after a certain amount of time or when a presenter presses a button. Animation can aid in focusing attention during a presentation and make the slide show more interesting. Users can easily get a preview of each animation scheme and can try through various options until they find the animation they want.

Presentation Graphics Application Features Slide master Allows the style (font, font size, background etc) to be set once and then used throughout the presentation.

Presentation Graphics Application Features Transitions How the presentation software “moves” the display of one slide to another. Usually include dissolving from one slide to the next or the current slide being moved in some way to show the next slide as though it was underneath.

Presentation Graphics Application Features Links Links can be easily added to other slides within the presentation (thus allowing easy navigation through the presentation slides), to other files, or to web pages (thus allowing access to other files and the web within the presentation).

Presentation Graphics Application Features Slide notes When these are used the presenter will see the current slide and any notes associated with it on presenter display and the audience will see just the slide on another screen or from a projector.

Presentation Graphics Application Features Multimedia Sounds/videos can be inserted as an integral part of a slide show as an object. This is the most convenient method, but can make the file size very large - a minute of recorded sound can require up to 10MB of disk capacity. A solution could be to save the whole file into a CD or other large memory storage media.

Presentation Graphics Application Features Recording a voice narration or sound in a slide show Narration can be added to a one or more slides. Users might want to add narration in the following cases: A Web-based presentation. For archiving a meeting so that presenters can review it later and hear comments made during the presentation. For individuals who can't attend a presentation. For self-running slide shows.

Presentation Graphics Application Features Creating charts, tables and organizational charts Charts and tables are usually created with spreadsheets. can then be easily inserted into the presentation graphics software using the Copy and Paste commands. simple charts and tables can be directly created in the presentation graphics software (it will take on the colors and format of the current slide design).

SUMMARY Most presentation software packages allowing creating multimedia product using a series of slides. Text, images, video, animations, links and sound can be combined on each slide to create a sophisticated final product. ADVANTAGES: Quick and easy to master basic features and easy to organized. Simple bullet points will remind the speaker of main points and the organization of the message. Easy to create a colorful, attractive design Easy to modify Easily re-order presentation with a simple drag and drop or using key strokes. integrated with other products that allow to include parts of documents, spread sheets, and graphics.
