Real Life Math Investigations 4th Grade ELA: Students are diving into the study of Caesar’s English. Caesar’s English is a study of Latin stems and vocabulary words prominent in American and British literature. Students will be playing games such as cherry pie, concentration, flash card war, and completing a study guide for practice. Students will be quizzed on lessons 1-8 in December and January. 5th Grade: MATH: The Stock Market  A simulation of the global capital markets that engages students in the world of economics, investing and personal finance. Students will buy, sell, and trade stocks they have purchased introducing them to multiplication of decimals. ELA: The Arts! Students will create a ballad poem on an important figure. Students may present their poem Hamilton style in a rap battle or a traditional format. Students will participate in a study of Shakespeare and will create and perform a reader’s theater version of A Midsummer’s Night Dream. 4th Grade MATH: Real Life Math Investigations “Math plays a part of our everyday lives,” is the driving force for this unit. Students will work individually and in small groups to explore real life math situations using multiplication of whole numbers and decimals, division, probability, and percent.
