Introduction The operating system is a system software that runs a computer Examples of the operating system include Windows OS, Macintosh, and Linux OS These operating systems differ in terms of price and compatibility They can utilize a common word processing application such as the MS Word web app The operating system is a system software that runs a computer. There are various categories of operating system that include Windows, Macintosh and Linux. The three operating systems can utilize a similar word processing application. The MS Word web application, for instance, can work with either of the three operating systems. Despite these systems being compatible with the MS Word web app, they are different. When a user decides to utilize either of these operating systems they should consider certain factors that make them different. For instance, price and compatibility are some of the components that these operating systems different.

Windows Operating System Introduced in 1985 It is a complete and mature software It offers compatibility since almost every application works on windows Offers technical support since it has numerous users using it Windows is slow since it needs numerous computer resources It requires an antivirus program Expensive The Windows operating system was introduced in 1985. It is recognized as a complete and mature software that can be used to run a computer. This OS offers compatibility because it allows almost all applications and programs to run on it. Numerous programs, games and applications can work on the Windows OS. Further, this operating system offers technical support since it has numerous users utilizing it to run their computers. As such, most people are aware of how to operate using the system as well as how to solve any issues associated with Windows OS. On the contrary Windows is a slow operating system since it requires numerous computer resources. It also needs an antivirus program because it is exposed to numerous virus attacks. Lastly the operating system is expensive.

Mac Operating System A graphical-based operating system It gets almost no viruses It is reliable since it is less prone to software and hardware crashing It is expensive Available on Apple computers Less compatible The Mac operating system is recognized as a graphical-based OS. The operating system gets almost no viruses or a few viruses. It is a reliable OS since it is less prone to problems resulting form the software and hardware crashing. Further, this operating system is expensive just like Windows. It is also limits the number of users who can access and use it. This is because it is only available on Apple computers. The Mac operating system is less compatible in comparison to Windows. This is because it does not allow many programs and applications to run on it.

Differences in the Operating Systems The difference in the operating system is defined by elements such as price, compatibility, and virus Mac and Windows are expensive whereas Linux is cheaper Windows is compatible but Linux and Mac are less compatible since a few programs can run on them Mac and Linux get few viruses whereas Windows requires an antivirus program The three operating systems are different. For instance, their compatibility, price and exposure to virus make them distinct. The Mac and windows operating systems are expensive whereas Linux is cheaper because it can be downloaded and installed for free (Turecek, Holy, Jakubek, Pospisil and Vykydal, 2011). Windows is a compatible OS because it allows for numerous programs and games to run. On the contrary, Linux and Mac are less compatible since they allow a few programs to run (Silberschatz, Galvin and Gagne, 2014)). On the other hand, Windows requires an antivirus program since it is affected most by viruses whereas Linux and Mac get a few viruses.

Linux Operating System It is the youngest in the OS world It is free and can be easily downloaded, modified and redistributed It is cheap since it is free Has a variety of software to utilize such as Ubuntu, Fedora and Mint Gets few viruses Less compatible since it does not have numerous games and programs Limited number of vendors sell Linux Requires computer knowledge since it is complicated The Linux operating system is the youngest in the OS world. It is free and can be easily downloaded, modified and redistributed by a computer user. It is thus the cheapest operating system since a user does not require any finance to install it. Further, the operating system has a variety of software to utilize such as Ubuntu, Fedora and Mint. It also gets a few viruses just like Mac and hence does not need an antivirus program. On the contrary, it is less compatible since it does not support numerous programs and applications to work on it. The OS has limited number of vendors welling it thus it is not easy to access it. Also, it is a complicated operating system that needs a person with adequate computer knowledge to install it.

Recommendation and Reasons for Supporting it MS Word web application is the best choice This application can be utilized by people working with the Linux, Mac and windows OS It allows for people to edit their documents MS Word web app allows a user to create word documents and edit them online Documents can be accessed from anywhere with the help of an internet connection Documents can also be shared The best word processing application that can work with the three different operating systems is MS Word web app. The application can be utilized by computer users working with Mac, Linux and Windows operating systems. MA Word web is an application that allows people to edit their documents. It also allows users to create word documents and edit them online. These documents can be accessed and shared between the users from anywhere provided they have internet connection.

Problems with Windows Operating System During installation the set up fails to recognize hard drive The setup forces a computer to reboot and installation is never completed At times during installation there is the problem of missing CD or DVD drivers During installation a user is likely to face certain challenges from the Windows operating systems. For instance, in the case of the Windows OS the set up fails to recognize hard drive. The setup forces a computer to reboot and installation is never completed. At times during installation there is the problem of missing CD or DVD drivers (Ferreira, 2011).

Problems with Mac Operating System During installation the macOS Sierra tends to crash or freeze At times the macOS delays installation due to lack of adequate space macOS Sierra fails to start during installation Mac tends to run slowly after upgrading the macOS Sierra Slow Wi-Fi In the case of the Mac Operating system various problems arise during installation. For instance the macOS Sierra tends to crash or freeze. The lack of adequate space in the macOS causes a delay in installation of the operating system. Further, the macOS Sierra is likely to fail to start during installation. The Mac also faces challenges such as slow Wi-Fi. After an upgrade of the macOS Sierra the Mac is seen to run slowly.

Problems with Linux Operating System Numerous package managers make Linux hard to learn and master It lacks software No killer applications of Linux that users can lust over Hardware compatibility It is difficult for a new device to interface properly with Linux The Linux operating system also has certain problems that reduce its attractiveness for a user to choose it over the others. For instance, the numerous package managers associated with the OS makes it hard to learn and master. It lacks adequate software to help in the installation process. Further, it does not have killer applications that computer users can lust over. Its limited hardware compatibility tends to be a challenge during installation. Lastly, it is difficult to make a new device interface with the Linux and also a person with adequate compute knowledge is needed to make a successful installation of the OS (Boulos, Blanchard, Walker, Montero, Tripathy and Gutierrez-Osuna, 2011).

Conclusion Operating systems such as Windows, Mac and Linux can work with a similar word processing app The best alternative is the MS Word web application The three OS differ in price, compatibility and amount of virus that affects them Mac and Windows are expensive whereas Linux is cheaper Windows is compatible but Linux and Mac are less compatible Mac and Linux get few viruses whereas Windows requires an antivirus program Operating systems such as Mac, Windows and Linux can work with the same word processing application. For instance the best app that can work with these three operating systems is the MS Word web application. The difference between the three operating system is recognized from their price, compatibility and exposure to virus. The Mac and windows operating systems are expensive whereas Linux is cheaper because it can be downloaded and installed for free. Windows is a compatible OS because it allows for numerous programs and games to run. On the contrary, Linux and Mac are less compatible since they allow a few programs to run. On the other hand, Windows requires an antivirus program since it is affected most by viruses whereas Linux and Mac get a few viruses.
