The device consists of three parts: the microphone, the electronic unit, and the output transducers (vibrators). On the ouside of the electronic unit are found the following: audio input socket for use with FM system, direct audio input from VCR, TV, or any audio device; charger input—to recharge batteries for portable use; sockets for the connection with the transducers; On/Off switch; user selectable mode (mode 2 provides gross time-intensity information and spectral balance, whereas mode 3 provides additional detailed temporal information in the signal’s envelope); and sensitivity control to reduce response to background noise.
