Networking for Bees District Convention 2017 Anjika Morari, Division 30 South Fundraising Coordinator Sara Ryave, Whitney Club Secretary

What is Networking? To build and nurture professional relationships that further one’s success. A necessity Link & Connection 2

Why Network? If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go with others. Further Key Club experience Inspiration Opens many doors in life as well Broaden your horizons Benefits any field/major

How to Network Step 1: Have a purpose/goal Step 2: Start a conversation! Introvert or extrovert? Make a connection Step 3: Make yourself memorable Connections are just a start! Meet halfway Step 4: Never forget to give & get information (and to use them as well) !

Activity #1 Just as we are here to plant the seeds of service, plant the seeds of new relationships! Meet someone from another division and make a connection about anything! Goal: learn something new Ultimate goal: build a relationship to the point of exchanging contact information

Do... Don’t... BEE assertive! BEE confident! BEE open-minded Make the first move BEE confident! Strong handshakes and smiles Body language BEE open-minded Step out of comfort zones Don’t... Force Convo’s! Be aware if they are interested Ramble No like’s & um’s Ask for favors Build a strong relationship first Remember, practice makes perfect!

Follow Up BEE sure to use your contacts! Reach them immediately! Email is the best way (professionally) Social Media is the best way to interact with peers Reach them immediately! It is important to be remembered; go one step further and reach out right after the first meeting If professional, write a thank you email and use this opportunity to talk more about your future If peer, make sure to keep in touch & build friendships

Activity #2 Think about your favorite phone app A unique one, can range from apps for games, school, or any other thing Get into groups and share Remember be bold Discuss why you like this app and how it helps you Did you learn about a new app that may be beneficial for you?

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Go for it! ? ?
