Reflection Questions By Tess Buccarelli

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? Challenges Conventions by: My product is only for a specific group of people who like to watch horror movies. Specifically this horror genre is probably the hardest to film. We decided to do this because we wanted to challenge ourselves on a healthy level. The Horror genre requires fear and cliff hangers in order to fit this criteria we included the locking of the doors, the screams, and suspenseful scary music.

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? Represents social groups by: The story is based on a group of students who are just up for a good time, however horror awaits them behind a door. This represents the social group of youth and the fact that they has so much stress and anxiety from school and after making another kid mad this killers vendetta kills them all in the end. We decided to have a diverse social group as well.

How does your project engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? Engaging audiences: My product engages the audience that enjoys to watch horror films which is why I needed to add what makes up a horror film such as suspense and fear. For example a character is killed in the first two minutes of the film as well as the suspense of the murder. It also ends with the suspense “Want to play a game?”. When people watch this clip they will be attracted to finish it because they are left with a cliffhanger (wanting to know more).

How does your project engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? This will be distributed as a real media text first by youtube however then through our distributors Blumhouse productions. They will make our movie a hit especially because they are known for great horror movies.

How does your production skills develop through this project? I believe my production skills have developed in multiple ways I have learned how to edit speed, sound, transitions, and flow. I also learned how to film, with angles, dimensions, and working with actors "my friends." I also believe I learned how to make this project fun, as well as the editing part. I loved learning how to edit pictures, make the sound fade out, and doing voice overs. Overall, I believe my production skills have drastically improved and developed.

How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online - in this project? Technologies and the internet is a major part of this project. We used the camera technology to film the shoot. Transportation technology to transport us in and out of the shoot (Cars). As well as, all of the editing software to make our film perfect. Overall we used the technology to our advantage.
