What is it? celebrated Oct. 31st in… US Canada Puerto Rico UK Australia New Zealand Kids dress up & trick-or-treat All Hallows Eve- The Feast of all Saints

History Been around for 2,000 years Originated from a myth about evil spirits roaming the Earth- Lord Samhain would bring them back Trick-or-treating was originally called “mumming” or “guising Jack-o-lanterns came from a myth about Stingy Jack

Why we celebrate it Kids dress up like evil spirits to roam asking for candy We have Jack-o-lanterns because of the Irish Folk tale of Stingy Jack Christian Holiday- before All Saints Day
