Aim of Task: to plan a charity event involving the MOVEMENT of people Planning a Charity Event Aim of Task: to plan a charity event involving the MOVEMENT of people from one place to another (journey) in order to raise money for an organisation of your choice. Key objectives: 1. To make the charitable event fun and/or competitive 2. To use Google Earth to plan your event 3. To Create a BLOG using 'blogger' to inform fund raisers of your idea.

Tasks: 1. Identify a Charity event – what types of charity events can you think of?

Climbing Mountains

Fun Run (marathon)

Cycling/ Mountain Biking

Extreme sport - e.g Bungee Jumping, absailing

2. Using Google Earth Identify a LOCATION where you would like your event to take place. E.g Grand Canyon - Bunge Jumping off the SKYWALK!

TASK 3: Decide what Charity you are going to raise money for.

Task 4: Write an instruction sheet for the fundraisers> This should include: ·Safety Tips ·info about where they are going ·rules/tips on how to collect money ·dates/times etc CAN YOU THINK OF ANY MORE?

VIRTUAL TOUR Task 5 - Back to Google Earth. Now its time to plan your event. For this you will be using 'SNAPSHOT VIEW' - a feature of Google Earth which allows you to plan a VIRTUAL TOUR MR WORTHING WILL TALK YOU THROUGH

Make sure the PLACES section is empty. Step 1: Make sure the PLACES section is empty. If not you will need to right click on the names of the places and press DELETE. Step 3: Now fly to another place. Right click and press SNAP SHOTVIEW again Sept 2: Now FLY TO a place e.g Cefn Fforest. RIGHT CLICK on the PLACE name and press SNAPSHOT VIEW. Step 4: Play tour by pressing the play button

Decision Making time! Now choose the BEST charity event from all of the groups in the class. You should have reasons for your choice. The chosen event 3rd choice 2nd choice

Decision Making Time: NEW TASK: the class will now be divided into a team of different responsibilities. There will be 5 teams in total! THE TEACHERS THE BLOGGERS THE GOOGLE EARTH Team DESIGNERS RESEARCHERS The RUNNERS

The Teachers! Team 5 (4 pupils) Resources needed: a brain and 1 laptop Objectives: to decide what vital information will need to be included in the leaflet and blog. time of charity date name of blog site name of charity

The BLOGGERS! Team 1 (3 pupils) RESOURCES NEEDED - Stand alone CPU OBJECTIVE - to produce a blog about the chosen charity event using blogger.com

The Google Earth Team 3 pupils ( 1 laptop) Objective: to design a VIRTUAL TOUR of the journey or event using the snapshot view function and PHOTOBUCKET.

The Designers Team 2 (8 pupils) Resources needed: 2 laptops (these will be producing a brochure of the charity event) Each pupil will be responsible for creating a page for the leaflet/ brochure (done on A4 paper) They will then create their idea/page on the laptop. Objectives. To produce a leaflet of your charity using Microsoft software (i.e WORD, PUBLISHER)

The Researchers Team 3 (8 Pupils) Resources needed: 4 laptops (1 between 2) Objectives: to research information which can be passed onto Team 1& 2.

The runners Team 4: 6 pupils needed Resources needed: integrity and a pair of legs! and scrap paper to make notes Objectives: to pass on information from the teachers and researchers to the other teams.
