2017 UAA School of Nursing Expansion Progress Connected with all 14 distance sites throughout Alaska completing a community assessment and conversing with local industry partners. Increased nursing student cohort size by 4 students in Juneau – 3 in Ketchikan – 2 in Mat Su- 2 in Bethel and 2 in Kotzebue in one semester ( 13 more students). Increased frequency of nursing program admission from every other year to yearly in Mat Su and Ketchikan increasing nursing student seats by 16-20. Plans to transition Juneau to yearly admission 2018. Supported another 16 BS in nursing students in Fairbanks site. Transitioning Kodiak to BS in nursing instead of AAS to meet the workforce needs. Admitted 20 additional new students to BS program Spring 2018. Collaborated with community stakeholders to gain insight into industry needs and perspective. Hired a outreach student advisor to better meet the needs of outreach students and to promote access and preparation. Hiring an Academic Partnership Coordinator to increase potential clinical sites for all programs. Plans for evening/ weekend BS in nursing cohort in Anchorage increasing another 60 students Fall 2019. 1. I have a significant vested interest in this program and therefore it is important to me that we move in a direction of excellence.
