Plot Nick Caraway moves to West Egg looking for a place to study, but is easily carried away by the roaring 20's flamboyant lifestyle. He meets an interesting man by the name of Jay Gatsby, who lies his life away in order to be with his true love, Daisy Buchanan Throughout the text and the movie Tom, Jay, and Daisy go through a love triangle.

Plot 2 Throughout the movie you see F. Scott Fitzgerald view and warning that although the American dream can be a wonderful thing and motivate many people, it can also lead to a persons demise. Many characters get caught up in the idea of the American dream which consist of material matters such as cars, money, and elaborate parties. We see many characters loose they’re core values in the fight for money and power. He warns people to be caucious of ones motives.

Characters Jay Gatsby- bootlegger, lives in West Egg, revolves his whole life around Daisy. Daisy Buchanan- wife of Tom, lover of Jay, the reason for Gatsby's house and his exotic parties. Nick Carraway- Narrates the text, moves to West Egg, cousin of Daisy. Tom Buchanan- Husband of Daisy, wealthy established man “old money”, lives in East Egg, caught with other woman.

Characters 2 Myrtle Wilson- Married to George, lives at garage, has affair with Tom. George Wilson- Owner of garage, married to myrtle, “friends with Tom”. Jordan- professional golfer, friend of Daisy, confusing relationship with Nick.

Essential Question Connection What is so special about the American Identity? The Great Gatsby Novel displays both the good and the bad of the American identity. This shows the unique idea that anyone no matter the circumstances in America can be successful. Many need to be careful because there are many downfalls that come with money and power.

Essential Question 2 How is my life shaped by the ideas of great American thinkers? F. Scott Fitzgerald has shaped many peoples life by his elaborate ideals and warnings regarding the positives and negatives of the American dream. Makes people question what success truly means?

Essential question 3 What will my contribution be to the American Identity? The novel of The Great Gatsby has shown that anyone no matter the background can create self invent themselves into a successful person and one day embody the American Dream. As shown through Jay Gatsby's actions throughout the story.
