Rates of Growth Failure and Survival among HIV Exposed Children in HIVNET 012 : Uganda. M Owor (MBchB MMed Ped) Makerere University - Johns Hopkins University Research Collaboration. maxowor@mujhu.org

Findings: Uninfected children Weight Z score 0.81SD lower than US counterparts. Height Z scores 0.91 SD lower than US counterparts. Head circumference preserved Good five year survival 93% Early Nutrition support urgently required. Growth monitoring key to care.

Findings : Infected children. Weight Z scores 0.81SD below uninfected. Head circumference Z scores 0.20SD below the uninfected. Low Five year survival - 43% Promote early infant HIV diagnosis Initiate HAART early Early nutrition interventions lifesaving.
