OCBs Faculty Approved Content

About OCB Content A Course’s OCB content is built through the following elements: General information that is the same on all OCBs (Global Snippets) Manually maintained, course specific information (outlined in this presentation) Data Sourced from CASIMS and CAL

About Faculty Approved Manual Content Faculty approved course specific content is developed by faculties and DoMC (course administration team, marketing officers, course directors, content officers). Faculty approved content is managed and maintained by the DoMC Content Team. Content progresses through a proofing process before it is published on OCBs. OCB faculty approved manual content will be scheduled for review annually. If there is a course update outside of the scheduled review you should contact your relevant marketing officer.

Banner Guidance Graphic experts have been updating banner images on the current OCBs as part of the OCB project. When a course director is interviewed for a new course they will be asked a question about visual representation of the course. A graphic expert will select a banner image based on this response for the new OCB and ensure it meets CSU brand guidelines (this is reviewed by the applicable marketing officer). If you have specific requirements or questions around existing OCB banner images please discuss with your marketing officer. The course specific banner image represents the general content of the course. The style of the banner image is conceptual and needs to meet the requirements for a responsive format. How the image crops when viewed on various devices is considered.

Course Overview Guidance Word limit: 100 words Format: First paragraph intro copy font size, supporting paragraph body copy font size. The course overview text includes two engaging paragraphs capturing the main course sells. Students are enticed by unique features and highlights. The intro sentence/s appears in a larger font followed by one to two sentences that expand on the intro. This content applies SEO and as such the full name of the course is always mentioned in the intro. This text is written by content officers and approved through the relevant course director. Please note additional text edits may be made during the proofing process to ensure content meets the CSU style guide, and also during the CMS upload to ensure the text presents well visually.

Marketing standards for display:  all lower case UG and PG 3 years full-time 6 years part-time 0.5 years full-time 1 year part-time PHD Exceptions Part-time: 6 years minimum / 8 years maximum By research  Full-time: 3 / 4 years maximum Part-time: 6 years minimum ears minimum / 8 years maximum  Extended – for international students only  Full-time: 3 years minimum / 4 years maximum By prior publication Full-time: 6 months minimum / 1 year maximum Part-time:12 months minimum / 2 years maximum Duration Guidance Duration is primarily guided by the Duration in Equivalent Full-Time Years stored against the course profile in CASIMS Note: EFTSL for CSU is 4 subjects and 2 sessions per year (even though some courses only encourage studying 2 subjects or 3 sessions). Marketing take the FT duration in CASIMS and essentially double it to generate a part-time figure. They then write the content to display this using the standards above. ONLY duration information will be recorded here.

Supplementary application forms Guidance Supplementary Application Forms (SAFs) appear in the ‘Entry requirements’ section where this is an approved entry requirement. Detail of a SAF must be included in the CASIMS doc. Faculty provides DoMC with an interactive SAF pdf (that meets web accessibility standards). This is then uploaded to the OCB and linked to the Course Forms on the FSH apply page at futurestudents.csu.edu.au/apply/course-forms. It is the responsibility of Faculty to ensure the form is kept up-to-date and advise DoMC if the form needs to be removed or updated.

Additional Admission information Guidance Additional admission information is complementary to the admission information that is pulled directly from CASIMS. If this CASIMS information is sufficient for the OCB, this area should be left to default. Additional admission information should only be added where there are exceptions, date sensitive information or links to external sites that can’t be put into CASIMS e.g. futurestudents.csu.edu.au/courses/psychology/master-clinical-psychology Additional admission information will be part of the annual OCB review and any new course interviews.

Course highlights Guidance Word limit: 300 words Format: Intro (50 words max), 3-5 tick points, option to include a final paragraph (50 words max) after the tick points. The Course highlights are where the key marketing messages for courses are expressed. UG and PG courses include three to five course highlights accompanied by an engaging header. Option to include final paragraph. Note: Professional recognition, Workplace learning and Study overseas appear in their own sections separate to Course highlights.

Infographic Guidance A course specific infographic can be included to show students an impressive statistic linked to CSU’s offering of the course or other industry stats such as the starting salary. Existing assets in this area have been utilised across OCBs. Where a course specific infographic is not available, the graduate employment rate infographic will be used. New infographics are currently in development for 2018. If you have a specific request or interesting statistic for an infographic please contact your marketing officer.

Career opportunities Guidance Word limit: 200 words Format: UG courses. Intro (50 words max), 3 tick points (template is set to 3) (100 words max), option to include a final paragraph (50 words max) after the tick points. PG courses do not follow the tick format due to the potential for broad career outcomes. PG Career opportunities include one paragraph (50-100 word maximum).

Professional recognition Guidance Professional recognition content must be included in CASIMS as it is important students receive the same information from the OCB and Handbook. The only manual element that can be added here is industry logos. A high-res logo should be provided to the relevant marketing officer who will log the job. The Content Team will upload to the OCB. It is the responsibility of faculty to advise DoMC when a logo needs to be updated or removed as only CASIMS content will update automatically.

Workplace learning Guidance The Workplace learning subjects list is maintained through integration with CASIMS. If a course has a workplace learning element a 50-100 word intro may be provided for content approval and manual upload. Please note that as this information is manually maintained faculty is required to maintain validity. Advise DoMC of any changes.   *Note: Admissions Transparency requirements may change the way Workplace learning is communicated on OCBs.

Testimonial Guidance A course specific testimonial can be included. The testimonial can be from a student, staff member or industry representative. As part of the OCB project DoMC has been updating testimonials across the OCBs. If a testimonial does not appear on an OCB it may be because there are no course specific testimonials available. If you require a specific testimonial to be included on an OCB a signed testimonial consent form must be provided to DoMC along with the testimonial text and image. Testimonial should not exceed 20-30 words. Include subjects full name and approved course title. Image should be a high res profile shot. All content and imagery for testimonials will be approved by Content in line with CSU’s brand and style guidelines.

Rich Media Guidance Rich media is a faculty, school or course endorsed video that helps to provide the prospective student with a visual representation of CSU. Rich media is provided by the relevant marketing officer and will be assessed by Content to ensure it meets CSU brand and style guidelines.

Specialisations Guidance Courses with specialisations include manual text outlining each specialisation. This appears at the start of the ‘Subjects’ section when the student selects ‘Full subject list’. The approved specialisation appears as a header followed by a 20-30 word description of the specialisation. DoMC will consult faculty re manual specialisation content. If a specialisation needs to be removed or added, faculty are required to advise DoMC of any changes.
