About One Million Mentors 1MM is a mentoring initiative, established by the UK-wide charity, UpRising. 1MM believe that mentoring at scale can be transformational in terms of youth employment, skills and social mobility, as well as social cohesion. The 1MM platform is designed for the busy professional, with the aim to provide a general framework and support mechanism to make it easier to be an effective mentor. 1MM is pleased to match mentors with mentees across class, race, gender and ability in all of our regions.

About your organisation How many young people are there in your organisation? What are the profiles of your young people? Do they come a variety of backgrounds? What is the gender ratio? What is the focus of your organisation?

What mentoring means for your organisation What does your organisation hope to achieve from mentoring? What does mentoring mean to your organisation?

Proposed Meeting Dates Dates – length / location of meetings What if any issues arise? – go over the reporting procedures

What Happens If?... I can’t make a meeting, or the mentee does not turn up? My mentee is unprepared for our meetings? My mentee and I do not connect on our first meeting? My mentee discloses information that is harmful? My mentee asks me to find an opportunity from my wider network? Please ensure some time to ask mentors if they have any questions at the end.

Why mentoring? “At a time of great anxiety about what the future holds for the next generation, we need a national effort to recruit and train a million mentors to help young people in our country. We must make sure that young people are given the opportunity to use their talent, skills and passion to make a positive contribution to our society. Many of us have benefited, at some point in our lives, from family, friends or colleagues who gave us words of encouragement or professional advice in order to make life changing decisions. We want to ensure all young people in the UK benefit from high quality mentoring to help them prepare for the world of work. We believe the full potential of One Million Mentors could be transformational in increasing employability skills, unlocking new opportunities and networks, promoting social mobility and social cohesion.” Rushanara Ali MP Co-Founder of UpRising and Founding Chair of One Million Mentors
