2 SPiiPlus Training Class Copyright 2006 Setting up the Motor Step 1: Connect your serial/ethernet cable to the computer and PCI board. Step 2: Open up the MMI and SPiiPlus UMD if necessary. Step 3: Set your communication settings to serial or ethernet, select either correct COM port for serial, or correct IP address for ethernet. Step 4: When connection is established, you will see the firmware version displayed in the MMI window. After this, close the communication window.

3 SPiiPlus Training Class Copyright 2006 Setting up the Motor Step 5: Go to Setup -> Configurator. Step 6: Select X Axis Step 7: Open the Motor Flags Button. Make sure only bits 17, and 19 are set (Note that a 1 input drive is handled as a DC Brush motor). Close the Motor Flags window. Step 8: Set EFAC = [360(degrees/turn)]/[4000(counts/turn)] = 0.09 Step 9: Set VEL=1080, ACC=10000, DEC=10000, JERK=100000, KDEC=100000

If you get a driver alarm, go back into Configurator -> Safety Parameters, and click checkbox corresponding to Drive Alarm and SAFINI. Then close Safety Parameters. Step 21: From Configurator, click Copy Axis and copy X axis to Y, Z, and T axes. When done, close Configurator. Note: Current loop tuning is only available for integrated drive controllers. Note: Commutation is not required for single input external drives (drive provides commutation).
