Discussion Guidance The aim is to the derive the skill implications from the strategic IT objectives. The roadmap plots emerging skill needs and the difficulty of developing or sourcing them over a three-year horizon, and thereby not only advertises talent risks but also the importance of emerging skills to execute on strategic IT objectives. Instructions Populate the roadmap with the skills required across a three-year horizon. The size of the bubble represents the potential impact of a skill on executing on the IT strategic objectives, while the color represents the difficulty of sourcing or developing the skill. Enterprise value is assessed by the following factors: Impact on IT strategic objectives Difficulty of developing or hiring is assessed by the following factors: External labor market maturity; Internal labor market maturity Related CEB CIO Leadership Council Resources The Future of Corporate IT, 2013–2017 In 2010, CEB published The Future of Corporate IT, a study that identified five shifts that are transforming IT. Behind several of the shifts were radical changes in how work gets done.
