How to be a FINtastic SHARK at WATERS

What three “tools” will assist you with being a successful shark this year?

Shark Tool #1: iPad apps!

Apps that replace Agenda Books In previous grades, you may have had an agenda book. This year, you’ll use your iPad. Use your iPad to sign in and out of class (for bathroom, etc…) Keep track of assignments using Schoology calendars and your calendar app. (You can even set alarms for yourself!)

iPads only work if they’re charged and present! Keep your iPad charged! Bring your iPad with you to every class. Create a routine to check your Schoology calendar every day. Example: Get home, eat a snack, check your iPad. Get home, go to practice, eat dinner, check your iPad. Get home, compliment your mother, sing a song, check your iPad.

Shark Tool #2: AGW Website

AGW Website Visit our school’s website, www.agwaters.org Locate your teachers’ e-mail and get info about homework. Find reading & research tips from the library. Get in touch with your counselor.

Website Sign up for homework alerts You can view morning announcements online After two weeks of school teachers will be giving three tickets to students who have signed up for e-mail alerts for their class (potential of 12 tickets!)

Homework Email Alerts

Shark Tool #3: Home Access Center

Home Access Center Home Access Center (HAC) can be accessed through the school website If you or your parent does not know the username/password, they should contact the main office or your school counselor https://hac.doe.k12.de.us/HomeAccess/Account/Lo gOn?ReturnUrl=%2fhomeaccess Be proactive!

Home Access Center Once you (or an older sibling) have a user name/password, it will stay the same from year to year It is important to keep track of your academic progress throughout the year. You can do that using HAC.

Bonus tips to keep up in shark nation: Keep your locker organized. Hole punch papers and put them in your binder. Don’t stuff papers in the front pocket. Know which friend is best to contact if you are confused or forget what was assigned for homework. Always carry a pencil. Always be proactive to ask for help. Your teachers and the staff want to see you do well!
