Work done during the hackfest Results achieved so far Future plans Outline Scientific problem Work done during the hackfest Results achieved so far Future plans Summary and conclusions 2

Scientific problem The safety, efficacy and stability of traditional remedies have not been fully documented The indigenous traditional medicine knowledge base and culture are on the verge of extinction due to aging and death of custodians. Depletion of herbs of medicinal value due to deforestation and other factors. Inadequate authentication, documentation and comprehensive database of flora in the sub-region. 3

OAR (Open Access Repository) Warmups Sent submissions via curl Work done during the Hackfest OAR (Open Access Repository) Warmups Sent submissions via curl Sent submissions via OAR Sci-GaIA website Searched for records using the OAR search engine API 4

Work done during the Hackfest Cloned the MIPAR project Tested OAR (Open Access Repository) from web application a. Created XML template files for OAR submission b. Generated DOIs for the OAR submission c. Sent XML to OAR via REST from application Sent images and datasets to OAR on the event that admin user approves 5
