Acts – A Church-Planting Movement New Shoots. Deep Roots. Diverse Fruit Acts 1:6-11

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. Hebrews 9:22b without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 6:4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Romans 8:11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. 1 Corinthians 15:17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.

John 16:5 But now I am going to him who sent me…7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away…

Acts 1:6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” “There are as many errors in this question as there are words!” John Calvin

Ephesians 2:18 For through him both [Jews and Gentiles] have access in one Spirit to the Father. … 3:6 the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

1. The Ascension CONFIRMS Christ’s Exaltation John 14:28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe.

1. The Ascension CONFIRMS Christ’s Exaltation Luke 24:50 And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. 51 While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple blessing God.

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King Psalm 24:7 Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle!

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King 9 Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King Acts 1:7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King Ephesians 1:16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King Philippians 2:9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King Hebrews 7:25 Consequently, [our Great High Priest] is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 9:24 For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

2. The Ascension CROWNS Christ as King Ephesians 3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
