How to avoid being de-sensitized to the message in the scriptures. Abraham Atta Ogwu

Living by Faith Living by faith in our lord Jesus Christ. John 3:16. Fear : The belief that something not nice, that is unseen, is about to happen. Faith : This is the belief that something that is good, but unseen, is about to happen. De-sensitization to the word of God by the world is meant to achieve the objective of making us to live by fear rather than by faith

Living by Faith Romans 11,1-2 : God has not abandoned his people. Psalm 121, 4 : Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. We must not trade our faith with fear.

Maslows Hierarchy of Needs Self –actualisation Self-esteem Affection needs Safety needs Physiological needs

Living by faith Matthew 6:33, But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Prayers are a requirement for christianity, that we mostly remember when we face challenges. Problems are a reminder of our neglect of what God wants us to do, that we neglected.

Living by faith Jesus Christ gives us the grace to enjoy every benefit, Philippians 4:19. Under pressure-We are still standing by the grace of our lord Jesus Christ. Under Oppression-We are still standing by the grace of our lord Jesus Christ. Under Attack-We are still standing by the grace of our lord Jesus Christ Under Humiliation -We are still standing by the grace of our lord Jesus Christ.

Living under fear e.g. Nazism Totalitarian state Personal dictatorship Racism Genocide Leader with supreme authority to demand absolute obedience Leader’s will is the collective national will Leader is the only person capable of interpreting the collective will of the people Idea of the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzche

Christian faith, Law and Justice 1 Corinthians 6: 1-10 The Law, like the Ritz hotel, is open to all; Legal equality Christian equality Can everyone have equal access to the law and equal treatment under the law? Legal equality depends on social and economic equality Rule of Law does not necessarily guarantee justice, but it is a necessary precondition of it

Equal Opportunity (another view) Left alone to succeed or fail on their own merits No help or hindrance by the government Govt intervention through the provision of education, health and welfare Inequality is a product of nurture, rather than a natural process Barriers include: birth, race, gender, medical disability Matthew 25: 31-46

Freedom Liberty is the right to do everything that the laws allow Man was born free and everywhere he is in chains (latent thought) Are humans deserving or capable of exercising freedom? What separates freedom from mere licence? Negative and positive freedom Genesis 3: 1-15 Genesis 19: 1-10, 24, 25
