Corporate Volunteering CVPs have been seen as feel-good social engagement tools that are primarily used for public relations, increased morale, and team building (Veleva et al. 2012, 125). The challenge is in the design. Creating a CVP that is both scalable for use by even small organizations, maximizing impact by both aligning the CVP with strategy yet retaining the benefits “selfless” volunteering gives, is a challenge (Pajo and Lee 2010, 480). CVPs should provide the company with: PR Benefits Team Building Opportunities Employee Engagement

Shared Value Model Community Value Business Value Point of Intersect Business Value A Shared Value model (Bockstette and Stamp 2011, 4) is simply to commit to finding where business and society have intersecting interests, and using these points of intersection to benefit both

About School Partners Founded in 2006 by DPS Foundation The School Partners Program cultivates, nurtures and sustains partnerships between DPS schools and the Denver community. The program creates tailor-made partnerships between schools and businesses or community organizations. 2013-2014; School Partners 46

Path to Partnership

TutorMate Online Tutoring Tutoring sessions occur once a week, for 30 minutes, via an online, shared screen connection. Volunteer is in their office, student is in their classroom Each tutor works with the same student throughout the school year-building a meaningful, supportive relationship. Students and tutors read appropriate level stories and play activities that encourage fluency, comprehension, phonics and spelling skills. Video

Power Lunch Power Lunch is a unique reading & mentoring program that pairs corporate volunteers with third-grade students, to read in-person weekly. Each week, volunteers go to the school together to read for 45 minutes with their Power Lunch reading buddy. Participating companies provide one volunteer for each student in a classroom to have a reading partner – a minimum of 25 volunteers. Video
