Presentation transcript:

draft-ietf-ecrit-rough-loc Richard Barnes

Process -00: April 2010 WGLC on -04: April 2011 ... -05: July 2012 Update to reflect some new discussions Editorial revisions Propose discussing changes, then re-WGLC

Changes in -05 Mentions geocoding as a possible approach to civic address filtering Re-phrased requirements in phonebcp format Removed non-emergency services section Privileged LoST Servers

The Original Approach LIS operator wants to support emergency services, but doesn’t want to provide precise location What level of location is necessary? By value: Precise enough for LoST routing By reference: Full precision, but access controlled

New Requirements Feedback from ETSI community on Increased need for location privacy Planned structure of some LoST deployments Added the notion of “privileged” LoST servers Authorized to access precise location Definition of “good enough location for ECRIT” -04: Precise enough to get to mapping -05: Precise enough to get to a privileged LoST server

Privileged LoST Servers Client discovers privileged LoST server Local discovery (DHCP / DNS) Recursion using rough LbyV LoST server accesses LIS via deref or identity LoST Server LoST Server LoST Server mappings Deref(URI) URI Client LIS URI

Questions How should this group address new requirements from ETSI? LbyR in LoST LoST in HELD (next presentation) Should we use this document to describe that solution? Feedback on other changes?
