WATER DRINKING

Water drinking in fever: Hippocrates Hahn Effects of cold water drinking: Blood vessels are first contracted, but later tonic reaction occurs, then movement of blood in vessels is accelerated, the glands become more active and the functions of the stomach are quickened.

THERAPEUTIC APPLICATION OBESITY DIABETES FEVERS RHEUMATISM CHRONIC INACTIVITY OF BOWELS CHRONIC INACTIVITY OF SKIN GALL STONES CIRRHOSIS OF LIVER The temperature of water – 70 degree F

HOT WATER DRINKING Blood vessels of stomach are contracted, circulation is less active, activity of peptic glands greatly diminished. Indications: – Hyperpepsia ( degree F) – Gastralgia – Colic pains – Chronic gastritis

CONTRA INDICATION Free water drinking should be avoided in – Extreme dilatation of stomach – Colic, cold water drinking should be avoided – Fatigue – Sweating profusely (water should be very slowly sipped) – During meals (delays digestion of starch, proteins)
