PURPOSE To inform our transitioning service members of the importance of credentialing programs and how they can be a valuable aid to when job searching.

STANDARD Average Sailor leave the military with skills and experience qualifying them for comparable civilian occupations, sometimes with little or no additional training. Certain companies and positions that require a specific license or certification that the Service member may have to qualify Primary TWO types of Credentialing: Licensure Certification

PURPOSE To inform our transitioning service members of the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) and how it helps Service members and Vets pursue their educational goals and earn degrees or certifications both during and after their service.

STANDARD DANTES is a DOD agency that provides leadership and support through partnerships across the education community.

OFFERS Certificate Programs Counselor Support Programs Distance Learning Programs Tuition Assistance Programs Examination Programs Higher Education Programs Reserve Component Programs Scholarships for Severely Injured Service Members

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Service members Opportunity College (SOC) SOC Creer and Technical Education (CTE) Program Troops to Teachers

COLLEGE LEVEL EXAMINATION PROGRAM (CLEP) Offers 33 exams Introductory – level college credit (credits usually earned in the first two years of college) Credits for successful scores on CLEP exams are accepted at 2,900 colleges and universities www.free-clep-prep.com Book Stores for CLEP books

TROOPS TO TEACHERS (TTT) Offers careers in public education as a teacher Active and Reserve Military personnel may receive assistance to pursue a new career in public education as a teacher 15,000+ service members successfully transitioned to a second career as a teacher Primary objective for this program is to recruit quality teachers for schools that serve students from low-income families throughout America

TROOPS TO TEACHER (TTT) General Requirements: Education Requirements- BA or advanced degree from an accredited institution at the time of application for elementary or secondary education classroom Min 1 yr with 6 yrs of experience in a vocational or technical field is required if interested in instructing vocational/technical education at the secondary level “Hire in Advance Program” up to 3 years prior to retirement or separate from AD RESOURCES http://www.proudtoserveagain.com/ *
