Monthly Drills Per State Regulations, schools are required to have one emergency drill each month. 3 drills for lockdowns 1 drill for shelter-in-place 3 drills for fire evacuation using fire alarms 3 other safety-related drill to be determined by the school - These are typically earthquake drills 1 drill using the school mapping info system
Drill Information Advanced notice given to teachers only for first three drills Exception is for special education students who require advanced warning Practice at various times of the day Plans for lunch and recess (3-whistle blows) Paras do their own practice exercises Always invite Eastside Fire and Rescue and Sammamish Police Department Help us add in extra layers of “challenge” Feedback provided to staff 1-1 as needed and in weekly Bulletin Rapid Responder Emergency supply backpacks, buckets, and storage container Student comfort kits and other emergency supplies
Planning for a real event Command backpacks and radios SPD and ESFR have keys to building and know our building layout All staff trained annually in Run-Fight-Hide Staff roles and responsibilities Half of staff stays with students, other half released to help Search and Rescue, First Aid, Site Security, Supplies and Logistics Student release process and reunification
