What courses do we offer? Resistant Materials Graphic Products Product Design Btec Construction

Resistant Materials/Graphic products /Product design 60% Coursework 40% Examination Coursework consists of a design and make project and a portfolio. Portfolio will consist of your research, designing, manufacturing and evaluation. This is similar to what you are doing at the moment except on a bigger scale.

Resistant Materials Examples of projects: Coffee tables, storage units, gadget tidy, garden furniture, flat packed furniture, furniture to aid a music or sports hobby. Materials you will work with: Mainly wood with some metals and plastic, will use a mix of CNC, hand tools and machines.

Resistant Materials exam Section A – designing section, will be given preliminary material so you will be able to come up with really good designs before your exam. Section B – Questions relating to materials, making, product analysis, scales of production and machines/tools – majority of this will be learned during practical classes.

Graphic products Examples of projects Board games, prototype mobile phones, model buildings, activity packs, promotional material for films or sporting events. Materials you will work with: Cardboard, foam, paper, stickers, plastic, small bits of wood and metal, quite a bit of CNC machine work.

Graphic products Section A - designing section, will be given preliminary material so you will be able to come up with really good designs before your exam. Section B – Questions on sketching, scale drawings, materials, CAD/CAM, designing, making, aesthetics, presentation.

Product design Examples of projects Lighting, constructional toys, docking stations, flat packed items, furniture, household items lot of focus on how we use products (ergonomics). Materials you will work with: Plastics, cardboard, wood, metal, electronics, Can have a lot of CNC machine work.

Product Design Section A - designing section, will be given preliminary material so you will be able to come up with really good designs before your exam. Section B – Questions on materials, product evolution (iphone), product marketing, manufacturing, developing products, sustainability and inclusive design.

Btec Construction 4 Modules 1 exam unit on Construction Technology – learn about materials and how a house is built 1 practical unit – can be carpentry, block laying, plumbing, electrical work, painting and decorating. 1 unit consisting of Science and Maths applications for construction. 1 unit of construction and design where you will be designing buildings.

Occupations that Design Technology will be very useful for Engineering (Mechanical, civil, electronic, environmental etc.) Architecture Mechanics Maintenance or problem solving jobs All trades (Building, carpentry, plumbing, electrician etc.) Designing Very helpful for work in industry which involves making. Loads of different companies and factories would welcome people who have studied Design and Technology.
