Customised Foot Orthoses Design

We believe in the very high quality of our orthotic therapy because we are one of very few clinics which actually controls the design process before they are manufactured. This guarantees the most accurate, truly customised device for our patients and their individual needs. This means your own podiatrist designs your orthotic without external lab technicians.

Step 1 We have invested in world leading scanning and Cad Cam technology to create your orthotics. After your extensive biomehcanical examination, we the take the most precise digital scan of the foot in its anatomically appropriate position for your individual needs.

1.

Step 2 We then locate key landmarks around the foot which is vital for setting the parameters of the device. This ensures that it will fit perfectly around the individual shape of each foot.

2.

Step 3 Once the digital image of the orthotic has been created, we can then move or rotate it to the most appropriate position which further improves the accuracy of the device against the foot which we have already digitally scanned.

3.

Step 4 Once the positioning is correct, we are then able to expand or reduce the length, width or height of the orthotic to the heels, arches or forefeet. This helps to further customise the orthotic device to the specific foot, pathology, footwear and biomechanical/gait characteristics of the individual person.

4.

Step 5 The next step is where we can view and change the orthotic in relation to the foot in cross-sections which allows us to modify the contours of the device. This can create areas of higher or lower impact during gait which is extremely effective in modifying biomechanical patterns or stresses on bones and soft tissue in the lower limbs and feet.

5.

5.

5.

5.

Step 6 Once the shape of the orthotic device has been perfected, we then have the option to add intrinsic or extrinsic posts for support and balance, wedges to target specific foot types, heel raises to accommodate for certain pathologies or limb length discrepancies. Further adjustments can create greater force and pressure alteration.

6.

Step 7 The final step gives us the option to add any custom additions to further strengthen the device or achieve extra control. We are also given the opportunity to reduce the thickness in certain areas. By controlling the thickness and strength of the device, this optimizes its durability, longevity and suitability for the individual requirements and size of the patient.

7.

Step 8 Once we have the completed design, we can then review how it would look once manufactured. The data file is then sent to a production lab, where Cad Cam milling machines or 3D printers produce the device exactly as specified. No 2nd party is involved in designing your device..
