About the Dynamic Duo Domenico Dolce: Worked in family business Education Mentoring Gabbana Stefano Gabbana: Graphic design student↠Fashion Assistant designer Dolce and Gabbana Meeting Creating a label Domenico Dolce was born on September 13,1958. He was heavily influenced by his family’s clothing businesses, then left his hometown to learn about fashion at Istituto Marangoni, but dropped out. He later started working under Giorgio Correggiari as an assistant designer, where he helped Gabbana get a job as an assistant designer as well. He mentored Gabbana because he was more educated and more experienced in the fashion world. Stefano Gabbana was born in November 14, 1962. He started as a graphic designer, but transitioned into fashion design. He met Dolce at a club, then Dolce got him a job under Giorgio Correggiari as an assistant designer, and was mentored by Dolce. Dolce and Gabbana left their jobs as assistant designers and began working together as freelancing designers. They later launched Dolce and Gabbana in 1985.

Influences How they were influenced The 1963 film The Leopard Spanish Sicily Romantic Historical How they have influenced Initiated the Mediterranean style Influential on today’s youth 2016 Ready-to-Wear show Dolce and Gabbana were inspired by the 1963 film The Leopard directed by Luchino Visconti and the style presented, which was the Spanish Sicily. The Spanish Sicily influences about every of their designs with romantic pieces, such as lace and roses. They use the historical Spanish Sicily as a base for their work and fuse it with pop culture. This can be seen in their spring 2016 Ready-to-Wear show, where they had models take selfies and upload to their personal social media accounts. They initiated the Mediterranean style into clothing.

Spring 2016 First outfit- The first outfit is a bright, yellow shift dress that has embroidery of typography and Italian influences. She has a matching headband and basket type purse. Second picture- The second picture is a black purse that has the famous golden detail, has big tassels and completes the simple chiffon dress. Third outfit- The third picture has all the models in bright, colorful dresses with different locations in Europe.

Fall and Winter ‘15 & ‘16 First outfit- This pink dress is a shift dress that Dolce and Gabbana like to use in most of their collections. The woman holding the child conveys the importance of being a family devoted woman. Second outfit- This green faux fur coat is the trending color for the fall and winter ready-to-wear show, the dress contains embroidered roses on the dress. Third outfit-This outfit has gold encrusted earmuffs and a soft black coat, although simple this dress is still romantic due to the gold encrusted earmuffs.

Spring 2015 First outfit- This outfit has the Spanish matador was gold hearts and flowers with the lace dress. Second outfit- This outfit also is the Spanish matador represented through lingerie by the flamenco heels and the waist corset. Third outfit- This last dress has fish netting that evokes the strong sexy woman with matching boots with roses.

Fall and Winter ‘14 & ‘15 First outfit- The key embroidery are significant because it represents the key to one’s own heart. Second outfit- This black fur coat is simple, but is completed through the golden accented accessories. Third outfit-The last one is almost the same as the first picture, but is black that is a staple piece from and is longer for a more formal type of outerwear.

Spring 2014 First outfit- This is a two piece outfit that has a greek graphic fused with cherry blossoms. Second outfit- This mini dress has cherry blossoms that are sown in individually. Third outfit- This outfit is a red plastic type dress with the influence from the one prior. Each of the dresses contain cherry blossoms in each one these dresses.

Fall and Winter ‘13 & ‘14 First outfit- This outfit has golden jewelry, which includes a golden crown. Her blouse is golden with what could be represented as church carvings with what seems to be colored gems. Second outfit-This outfit is slightly different because it is not the same short dresses that they usually like to play with. It has more graphic details almost like the paisley design. Third outfit-This last outfit is the most conservative dress of all the collection because she is fully covered and has picture of a saint on her dress. This conveys the clientele that they are aiming towards. Overall- All have saint influences with golden, old fashion church influences, and artistic prints.

Time After Time Concepts Spanish Sicily Romantic Colors Feminine Client Target Staple Pieces fabrics gold roses graphics What changes Traditional↠Current fashion Current trends Their constant concepts come from the Spanish Sicily, that has a romantic, feminine underlinings. Colors commonly used in most of their collections are red, gold, black. According to Dolce and Gabbana’s official website, their clientele are described as the strong, devoted Catholic woman, who is also not afraid to express her sexuality. Their staple pieces are lace, golden accents found in accessories, and roses are their because it is the influence from romanticism. Graphics found almost every year and come in standard photo graphics and cursive typography. Dolce and Gabbana brings traditional fashion and fuses it with current trends. For example, the first picture is from the Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear show and this dress has features that were incredibly popular around 2010 and 2011.
