“Perceived Mistreatment among Psychiatric Trainees: A Way Forward” Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine January 4, 2018 11:00a.m.- 12:00p.m. Brody 2E-100 “Perceived Mistreatment among Psychiatric Trainees: A Way Forward” Presented by: Julie Gauss, D.O, MPH Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Brody School of Medicine East Carolina University Objectives: 1. Describe the scope of the problem presented by bullying, intimidation, and harassment in medical training 2. Describe examples of bullying, intimidation, and harassment in medical training 3. Understand the “hidden curriculum” and key themes in the culture of medicine that may perpetuate a cycle of bullying, intimidation, and harassment 4. Identify barriers to help-seeking behavior among trainees who have experienced bullying, intimidation, and/or harassment in clinical training 5.
