Language Arts – Work session 02/19/15 Alliteration – “Free as a…” List all the examples of alliteration you can find in the poem. The images that are presented in the poem are from two points of view: from a child’s perspective and from a bird’s. Tell whether the following are from the child’s or bird’s point of view: outside my window, a worm for breakfast, tops of trees, I wonder, streets like lines. Who is “taking one wild step into air”? Explain this part of the poem. Tell about a time when you did something for the first time. Did you feel like you were “taking one wild step into air”? Describe what you did and how you felt.

Language Arts – Work session 02/19/15 Onomatopoeia – “Two Old Crows” Write some examples of onomatopoeia from this poem. Write down 2-3 more examples that are not from the poem. How does the poet personify the crows in this poem? What were the crows thinking about before one of them asked the riddle? Think about the joke told by the muttering crow. If the bee’s “fiddle” refers to bee’s buzzing sound, what is the bee’s “sword”? Explain.
