Create a Working Model/Prototype Prepare a display board GATE Grade 4 Invention Syllabus 2017-2018 Invention Journal Invention Research 2016-2017 Every idea that you think of should be entered into the log. The first 5-6 pages should just be brainstorming ideas. Each day or every other day, you should be asking questions or trying to solve a problem that exists in your daily life. After writing down the problems or question, you should list several possible solutions. This includes ways to change objects that already exist. You can use “SCAMPER” to help you create new ideas! After you have brainstormed questions, problems, and possible solutions, you need to select one of your written ideas for your invention or innovation. All of your writing will then be all about your invention. It should document the entire invention process. It could also include your feelings, frustrations, happy moments, and disappointments. Once you commit to one of your brainstormed ideas, you will need to search the US Patent office to see if your idea already exists. Then we will design and prepare a survey to help you get some feedback on your idea. The Google Survey will be created in school. You will be responsible for distributing the survey to you r target audience. The information will be graphed and placed on your display board. Create a Working Model/Prototype Make a working model of your invention or innovation. It does not have to be real size if your idea is too large. This will be done entirely at home. While completing the steps, you should be taking photographs. These pictures will be used to show your invention process on your display board. You will also need to draw a diagram of your prototype. Advertisement Oral Presentation Create an advertisement for your product. Your advertisement should target a particular consumer. We will discuss the use of persuasive techniques including persuasive symbols, pictures, and words. The advertisement portion of your project will be completed during your scheduled class time. You will need to prepare a 3-5 minute oral presentation to pitch your idea describing: The need or the problem or question answered The research you completed How you came up with the solution How you tested your invention to see if it works A description or demonstration of how the invention works Why it’s successful and why judges/”sharks” should invest in your product Prepare a display board This will be completed in school. I will provide you with a display board and you will create titles and word art using the computer. It will be comprised of your pictures, diagram of your prototype, survey, survey results, and your oral presentation. We have reviewed the Invention Syllabus. I will be able to assist my son/daughter with his/her project. I understand that the prototype is due November 28, 2017.
