MSU Center for Cyber Innovation The Center for Cyber Innovation (CCI) is part of the High Performance Computing Collaboratory at Mississippi State University. CCI develops cutting-edge solutions for Defense, Homeland Security and the Intelligence Community. The primary focus of the CCI is to research, prototype, and deliver cutting-edge cyber solutions that support global national security, homeland security and peacekeeping operations. Access to on-campus SCIF and DOD-restricted access on-campus supercomputer.

Current Research Directions Software anti-tamper techniques Digital Forensics Software vulnerability analysis for foreign military sales Secure tactical communications with COTS wireless equipment Performance evaluation of 802.11n and 802.16 in secured wireless networks Security extensions to the DOD Architecture Framework (DODAF) Automatic generation of network simulations from DODAF architectures Usage-based pattern recognition for supplementary access control Secure overlays in mobile ad-hoc networks Secure software development Ability to do classified work if necessary

Outreach to DOD Cyber modeling and simulation research with the LeMay Center, Maxwell AFB Cyber Exercises at warrior transition units (med hold) at Fort Riley, Fort Benning, Eglin AFB, Fort Carson, Fort Lewis, WRAMC and Fort Knox Cyber electives at USAF Air University Squadron Officer College Air Command & Staff College (off-site at MSU) Air War College

MSU CCI USAF Engagements Digital forensics to support OSINT (NASIC) Software-based Counter-UAV project with USAFA Academy Center for Cyberspace Research Engage USAFA faculty in joint publications, graduate committees, etc. Workforce Development (CyberCorps) with 24 AF Initial engagement with Undergraduate Cyber Training at Keesler AFB

Research Summary Cyber funding opportunities are strong and likely to remain strong. Cyber outreach is good for the nation and useful in marketing research. Students fuel research efforts and institutions with strong teaching have a competitive advantage. Diversity is critical to successful research efforts. Whenever you do something good for a wounded soldier, you have had a good day!
