Many ancient Greeks believe that is took place between the 13th or 12th century BC.     • According to Greek Legend t all started when Zeus became king of the gods and was not faithful to his wife. Zeus had many relationships in which many children were born so Zeus decided that there were too many people populating the earth so he came up with the idea to have a Trojan war decrease the population of people.  http://www.timelessmyths.com/classical/trojanwar.html
